Taxpayers to Recall State Representative Robert Dean is a political committee organized to operate the recall effort against Representative Robert Dean. Representative Dean voted in favor of a massive $1.5 billion tax hike - a tax hike so enormous that it will make Michigan’s economy even worse than it already is. Why have we targeted Representative Dean for recall?
- Representative Dean, when interviewed by WOOD TV 8 during his election campaign, pledged not to raise taxes unless all options for budget cuts were explored. However, when it came down to voting time, Representative Dean voted against spending reforms and voted in favor of the two massive tax increases.
- Representative Dean voted in favor of a 11.5% income tax increase and expanding the 6% sales tax to dozens of services that are not currently taxed. These taxes are estimated to raise an additional $1.5 billion for the state government - that’s $150 in higher taxes for every man, woman, and child in Michigan, or $400 for every household in Michigan.
Michigan’s economy is already the worst in the nation. The unemployment rate is 7.7%, this highest in the nation. As businesses and people continue to flee our state, Representative Dean voted to increase taxes, thus virtually guaranteeing that the downward spiral of our state’s economy will continue.
We invite all citizens of Michigan to assist us in the recall effort to make sure that the taxpayers of this state are heard in Lansing. We believe that a recall is the necessary message to send to tax increasers who are making our state worse. Join us by either volunteering or donating to our cause.
